Xavier Hernández Creus, commonly known as Xavi was born on 25 January 1980 in Terrassa, Barcelona, and currently plays for FC Barcelona and the Spanish national team. Central midfielder in both the Spanish national team and with his club FC Barcelona, he has won praises from pundits all over the world for the quality of his passing game and technique. Indeed together with Iniesta, he is the main architect behind the success of FC Barcelona and Spain on the football scene. However just as most of the Spanish players he may be a bit handicapped whenever the play becomes a bit more physical.

He was named Player of the Tournament by UEFA at UEFA Euro 2008.
Xavi was named the Man of the match of the 2009 Champions League Final where Barcelona beat Manchester United.
He won the treble in the 2008–09 season. Indeed he won the championship, the Champions League and the Copa del Rey.
His début in La Liga came against Valencia on 3 October 1998 where Barcelona defeated Valencia.
He was awarded third place in the annual Trofeo Alfredo di Stéfano by the Spanish newspaper Marca.
He won the 2010 World Cup with Spain.
Guardiola has conceded that Xavi is the best midfielder that ever played for Barca.
