Biography

Xavi is a football player that plays as central midfielder for both FC Barcelona and the Spain national team.  He has been formed at the Barcelona’s training center, La Masia and has played with the Catalan giants for his entire career.

He has started his career with the Barcelona B team and will win promotion to the Segunda Division before he break into the first team in a Super Cup final. Indeed he will score in this match against Mallorca on the 18 August 1998. Almost two months later he will be handed his first game in La Liga against Valencia.

It is after the injury to Pep Guardiola that Xavi will seize the opportunity to establish himself as the playmaker for the Barcelona team. His most melmorable moment may be the 6-2 El Clásico victory vs Real Madrid on 2 May. Xavi will provide 4 assists out of 6 for the goals scored by Barcelona. As he is important to his club, Xavi is also an important player for the Spanish national team. Convened regularly since 2000, Xavi has participated in all international competitions since the World Cup in 2002. He will win the Euro 2008 with Spain and also the 2010 World Cup.
